Product Description
Strut channel is a standardized formed structural system used in the building and electrical industries for lightweight structural support, typically to support wiring, piping or mechanical components such as air conditioning or ventilation systems. Struts are usually formed from sheet metal folded into an open channel shape with inwardly bent lips to provide additional rigidity and serve as a location for mounting interconnecting components. An increasing number of struts are made of fiberglass, a highly corrosion-resistant material known for its lightweight strength and rigidity. [1] Struts usually have some type of hole in the base to facilitate interconnection or to fasten the stanchion to the underlying building structure. The main advantage of post channels in construction is that there are many options available for quickly and easily attaching lengths and other items to post channels using a variety of specialized post specific fasteners and bolts. They can be assembled very quickly with a minimum of tools and a moderately trained workforce, which in many applications reduces costs significantly. Pillar channel installations can often also be modified or added on with relative ease, if desired. For most applications, the only alternative to strut channels is custom fabrication using rebar and other commodity components, requiring welding or extensive drilling and bolting,
